University Recreation

The University Recreation Department is dedicated to the health and wellness of Detroit Mercy students and employees.

In collaboration with the University community, University Recreation offers an exemplary facility, programs and services that inspire participation and engagement.

Our recreational opportunities promote health, inspire well-being, enhance academic success and foster community. The student-centered environment provides an outlet for competition, exploration, fitness, play and social interaction.

Students can get active with intramural sports, fitness classes, club sports, URec Adventure Series, outdoor recreation, group activities, or regular daily exercise.

If you want to get in shape, stay fit or just have a good time, University Recreation has a program for you.

Go Move Challenge 2024

Go Move Challenge 2024

Calling all faculty, staff and administrators!

The 11th annual Go Move Challenge begins on Thursday, Feb. 1 and continues throughout the entire month of February. Detroit Mercy colleagues will help their team win by recording minutes of intentional physical activity that gets the heart pumping to determine which Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) institution is the most active.

Awards go to the institution that tracks the most minutes, averages the highest per participant, and with the highest average number of minutes per region. Last year, Detroit Mercy was the top university in the Midwest region and is looking to claim that title again in 2024!

To register, go to www.gomovechallenge.org, even if you participated last year.

The Student Fitness Center will have classes and weekly prizes awarded for those who participate. Sign up today!
